Westinghouse Solar, a manufacturer and distributor of solar power systems, has been granted another patent for its solar panel technology by the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
The new patent provides additional protection for the Westinghouse Solar panel's design, and expands the company's intellectual property portfolio in the solar panel mounting area.
An important feature of this latest patent include side electrical connections that eliminate the need to wire solar panels manually.
The company's original patent covering a solar module with integrated racking, wiring and grounding was filed in 2004 and granted in 2008.
In addition to patents already granted, the company has more than 25 patents in various stages of evaluation at the USPTO and foreign patent offices.
